Hello! It’s been awhile since I’ve introduced myself and I thought this would be a great time for a re-intro!
My name is Ishita Kalia-Hayer, and I am the Principal Planner and Lead Designer for A Stylish Event. What does this title mean? Essentially I am the owner/CEO/Boss Babe of A Stylish Event and I have a keen eye for event design.
I started my company in 2014 when I was on maternity leave with my first born. At this time, I was solely a wedding planner/coordinator and over the years I have evolved into planning and design.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and graduated from York House School, from there I attended Carleton University in Ottawa where I obtained a Bachelors in Mass Communications. After graduation I moved back to Vancouver and dabbled in broadcasting. I realized quickly this was not the career path for me and moved on to a comfortable job within the Federal Government.
After a few years in the Government I was bored!! I again realized a monotonous Government job did not suit my personality and my sister suggested I pursue a career in Event Planning. Wait…what? A career in Event Planning! I had no idea there was such a thing!! I started doing my research and enrolled in BCIT in their Events Marketing Program. Upon receiving my certificate, I continued on with my job at the Government!
In 2010, I met my husband, and we started planning our New Years Eve wedding in 2011. I hired the Creme de la Creme of Wedding Planners in Vancouver and watching them produce my wedding events gave me the urge to also pursue my passion in Events!
I started my company in 2014 and since then I have planned, executed, produced over 150 events, weddings, corporate events! A Stylish Event has come a long way since 2014 and there are lots of great things yet to come! I will be utilizing this blog to share my experiences, provide advice, share some funny fictional and non-fictional stories, highlight wonderful vendors, spotlight some amazing couples and some. I invite you all to come along the journey with A Stylish Event
